TOEFL Speaking Strategies

Most of the people are nervous about speaking section in TOEFL ibt but it is the easiest part in all the sections. You just need to follow the strategies. Note taking is allowed on every section at any time. You should practice your speaking in a noisy background because in the test day there will be a lot of examinee in one room. So, there will be a lot of noise in the room which can distract if you are not practiced in a noisy background before. 

Section-1:   There will be a random topic. Example: Describe the event you have enjoyed most last year. Your preparation time is for 15 seconds and you will speak for 45 seconds. All you need just to prepare yourself with some formats. Always speak in full sentences. Do not use any short terms.

• Start your speaking with a beginning sentence. Example: In my view or according to my opinion the day I enjoyed most was my friend's birthday party.
• Give about two reasons why you liked it. In this case, you have to start your sentence saying, "firstly/ secondly"
• At last a finishing sentence. Example: For these reasons, I enjoyed the event most.

Section-2: It is also an independent section like section 1. In this section, you will be asked to give your opinion. Example: In your life which one is the most important thing, Dignity or earning money? 15 seconds for preparation and 45 seconds for speaking.

• Now start with a sentence which one is your important thing. Example: In my life, dignity is the most important thing.
• Give two reasons or examples of why it is important.
• At last a finishing sentence.

Section 3 and 4: These sections are integrated. There will be a reading passage and a conversation between two students for each section.
Section 3: you have to write one of the student's opinion which is correct to you. Then write some reasons given in the passage or conversation. It is for preparation section
After that, in your response time, you have to speak maintaining some formats.
Example: The man's opinion is that the on-campus job opportunities are important.
Now give two or three reasons from the passage why you are supporting this.
At last a finishing sentence.
Section 4:  You will hear a lecture and you can take notes. Prepare your speech with a format like the previous ones. In this case, you have to the what the passage about and what the professor is trying to define and provide examples from the passage. At last, a finishing sentence.
Section 5+ 6 : Preparation time 20 seconds, response time 60 seconds.
Section 5: You will hear a conversation between two students. There will be a problem in the conversation. You have to write only the problem and two solutions. The prepare your speech like the previous ones and speak.
Section 6: It is almost like section 4. You will hear a lecture. Identify the topic and what is the professor is trying to define. Write the examples and why the professor had given those in your note. At last finish your speaking with a deduction.
